Some paths are walked. Some are written in the stars.

Yapung — meaning 'Pathways' — traces the songlines and dreaming tracks that crisscross Country and sky. These ancient pathways, sometimes found on land, sometimes mapped in the stars, served as guides, markers, and maps for Aboriginal people travelling across vast distances. The horizontal lines moving upward through this artwork capture that sense of direction, purpose, and deep connection to place.

For those who know that every journey begins with knowing where you come from.

Artwork Story

Yapung is the Awabakal word for Pathways. This artwork traces the songlines and dreaming tracks that crisscross Country and sky — ancient pathways that served as guides, markers, and maps for Aboriginal people travelling across vast distances. The lines moving through this artwork capture direction, purpose, and deep connection to place.
