Wima Parai – Build with Country shares the reconciliation journey of Health Infrastructure, acknowledging Indigenous people’s connection to lands and waters throughout NSW and the commitment to listen deeply as we journey together towards reconciliation.

Central to the design a large gathering circle depicts Health Infrastructure and working together to design with country across the organisations NSW footprint. Traditional symbolism for Elders, embracing this imagery reflects the high value placed on cultural knowledge passed down over generations in caring for country and giving voice to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.  It represents cultural sharing and learning, undergirded by Health Infrastructures five guiding principle of self-determination, connection to country, Local solutions, Informed consent and Respectful relationships, represented by (5) people symbols displayed with the design.

People symbols flow outward from the central design in pathways across country to Health Infrastructure projects throughout NSW, depicting connection throughout the journey of reconciliation.  Projects are represented by three gathering circles, symbolic of the three pillars of reconciliation:  Respect, Relationship and Opportunities, while designing with country infrastructure is highlighted through traditional symbolic imagery that captures stakeholders and collaboration with Health Infrastructure project partnerships including NSW Health Colleagues, partners, NSW Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander communities and suppliers.  Stepping stones move across the canvas highlighting Health Infrastructures reconciliation journey from the reflect to an innovate reconciliation action plan and into the future, as we share and learn through cultural immersion, joint stewardship of country through mutual respect and understanding.

Songlines on country backdrop is reflective of NSW landscapes, while traditional water symbolism highlights Aboriginal tribal groups from saltwater to freshwater found alongside our coastlines, rivers, lakes and waterways across country.

Together this artwork celebrates the reconciliation journey of working together, around shared vision for a reconciled future for coming generations, as we care for country and connect across communities, in collaborative opportunities to build strong respectful relationships and innovative health infrastructure that benefits all.
