Uwaliko Malang – Walk Together
Uwaliko Malang celebrates working together towards closing the gap through collaboration, shared vision and respectful partnerships across the CatholicCare footprint on country.
Central to the artwork design, a gathering circle reflects CatholicCare and the mission of Christ by offering opportunities for growth, healing and hope to all people. This imagery is encircled by five people symbols which face outwards towards community, showing it’s about people, while highlighting the organisations five core values of Respect, Justice, Connection, Collaboration and Innovation.
This imagery sits upon a backdrop of three Large gathering circles that hold significant meaning within the imagery:
- An acknowledgement of Aboriginal people tribal groups, their resilience and invaluable cultural heritage with circles extending outwards embracing all communities;
- Three circles are reflective of the reconciliation with focus on respect, relationship and opportunities;
- Three links to the mission of building Stronger, Fairer and Kinder societies and
- Highlights the vision for each person to be Respected, Valued and
Connected gathering circles embracing the central imagery is reflective of the care and services provided to children, young people, families and individuals and seeking to provide opportunities for people to realise their individual potential.
Traditional blue water symbols connecting the outer circles, alongside the earthy tones of the artwork colour palette are reflective of country from our East Coast, rivers and wetlands to the mountains, valleys and plains. The connected circles highlight working together around shared vision for mutually benefiting partnerships driving cultural change that champion and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Concept
The design and creation of an Aboriginal fine artwork and graphics package that celebrates working together towards closing the gap through collaboration, shared vision and respectful partnerships.
This design would be presented alongside an acknowledgment of Aboriginal people, their resilience and invaluable cultural heritage. Embracing all communities and be presented within the reception spaces of Catholic Care, across eight community areas, including: Cardiff, Mayfield, Forster, Gloucester, Maitland, Muswellbrook, Singleton and Taree.
This respectful acknowledgment to Aboriginal people and country would contribute to the promotion of greater knowledge, understanding and inclusion of Aboriginal people, both amongst the Catholic Care staff and the greater community. A visual contributor to the mutually benefiting partnerships driving cultural change that champion and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Through visual design, vibrant colour palette and traditional story telling of Aboriginal symbolism in contemporary design, the artwork appeal will be widespread, inviting all to share in the journey towards closing the gap.
Fine Artwork
The artwork canvas will be custom made by a local craftsman and feature premium quality canvas and thick edge wooden frames. Completed works are fitted with quality hanging fixtures ready to install. All artworks are signed and labelled on the back by the artist with an authenticity number for easy recognition.
