Puna Borii - Sand Songlines
This product is currently sold out.
Capturing the vibrancy and diverse beauty of the Hunter sands and the cultural stories they hold within from shoreline to mountains; this work brings to life my personal connection and love for my country and extends an invitation to share in the wonder of Biami and his creation.
From the traditional sandstone engravings of Yengo to the cliffs of Redhead bluff, meaning Kintirrabin ‘the earth fire was here’, laid before us a visual feast of creation and intertwined journeys, the work reflects these richly interlaced sand and rock artworks and forms, dramatic in colour and rich in cultural significance interwoven through country.
Bold flowing lines, moving across the canvas represent our journey or ‘yapung’ pathway through country, emphasising expanse of time from creation to eternity, bringing reflection on the age old places upon which we live. Recalling generations past, present and future and our life journeys, “As for man, his days are like grass; as a flower of the field, so he flourishes. When the wind has passed over it, it is no more, and its place acknowledge it no longer”.
Stories are shared throughout time, as we take time to stop, listen and Re(a)d Earth.
