Koyiyoong – Campsite series 10
This highly textured artwork depicts journeys made across country by Aboriginal people and the known campsite visited during their travels. Campsites are depicted by the circles placed intermittently within the work, while lines radiating outward from the campsites represent the many songlines, journey trails and pathways taken by Aboriginal people over the generations. The rich warm earthy tones used within the work relate to country, while the blues symbolise waterways or waterholes, close to which camp was made.
