Watja - Fire

This painting’s vibrant colour and strong lines endeavor to capture the intensity and movement of Australian bush fires. The picture shows the bush ablaze as back burning take place.  This traditional practice has been carried out by Aboriginal people for thousands of years. The Witja (fire) not only helps to control bush fire outbreaks, but burns seeds that need the fire and heat to make regeneration possible.
