Pantimay - Message
The warm earthy tones of this painting represents country, while the engraved etchings interwoven throughout the work is reflective of many of our local sites that depict artworks engraved into sandstone. Representative of local areas including Ninkinpa, Wonaruah, Awabakal, Worimi and Darkinjung, the unbroken line of circles moving horizontally across the work depict links between neighboring groups and the passing on of knowledge and information, from clan to clan, through engraved messages upon sandstone or on message sticks. One such site is the Map Site found at Mount Yengo in the Hunter Valley.
