Salvation Army Eastlakes, BulBul Konara – Heart for People
This artwork is reflective of a heart for people. Central to the design the Cross reflects Jesus and his role as Lord and healer. Standing upon Mount Yengo we are reminded that he is our rock and creator, and this links to the dreamtime story of creation where Biami (meaning God) stepping down from heaven upon Mount Yengo to create country.
Water symbolism flowing across the artwork depicts living water and along with the interwoven middens highlight footprint on country of the East Coast and Lake Macquarie.
The Eagle Hawk, totem of the Awabakal people, soars high within the imagery, sitting upon a backdrop of country, acknowledging the Awabakal people as traditional custodians upon the land and the people of the hills and plains. The eagle within the design highlights the spirit and his strength and dependability.
Water pathway imagery reflects past generations moving through to the present and future generations. Gathering circle and people symbols flow across the canvas, throughout the design, depict respect, relationship and opportunities, as we work together around shared vision for reconciliation to each other and Christ.
