Wesley Mission, Macro - Fishtrap
The following original artwork design was created for and Wesley Mission Hunter Valley
This laced artwork celebrates the ingenuity of Aboriginal fish traps which are estimated to be over 40,000 years old and one of the oldest man-made structures on earth.
The elaborate woven network of the traps can stretch for around half a kilometre along the riverbed and was built by ancient tribes, to catch fish as they swam upstream.
